On Thursday, West Kentucky Star awarded the 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year to Dustin Wells of Wingo Elementary. It was obvious why he won when a gym full of screaming students celebrated his award! Our ears are still ringing and the experience was priceless.

Of the 9 winners over the last school year, Mr. Wells emerged victorious claiming his cash prize, a certificate, a Visa gift card and last but not least, praise from his biggest fans at Wingo Elementary.

When interviewed for his Teacher of the Month Award over the summer, we asked Mr. Wells “Is there a quote or saying that you live your life by?” He answered, “Be the best you can be.” It’s pretty simple. I tell my students “I don’t care what you do, but be the best you can be at it.” Teacher of the Year Dustin Wells is showing his students how to be the best. Congratulations!

West Kentucky Star Teacher of the Month is sponsored by Scott Walker Construction. Voting for the first month of the 24-25 school year is now open.
