Baptist Health Paducah's Strawbery Hill Imaging Center has received the American College of Radiology Lung Cancer Screening designation.
The ACR Lung Cancer Screening Center designation is a voluntary program that recognizes facilities that have committed to practice safe, effective diagnostic care for people at the highest risk for lung cancer.
Low-dose CT screening for lung cancer, like mammograms, are annual exams for safely and efficiently saving thousands of lives each year.
This location is now another resource for patients needing a low-dose CT screening. Baptist Health Paducah's Imaging Center on the hospital's campus received accreditation in 2014.
Lung cancer accounts for 25 percent of all cancers and has the lowest 5-year survival rate. Low-dose CT screenings take less than two minutes and are covered by most insurance plans based on the following criteria:
• 50 to 80-years-old
• 20-pack year history of smoking
• Current or former smoker who has quit within the last 15 years.
Anyone that meets this criteria or needs more information is asked to contact Lauren Sonnek at 270-415-7631.
