Safe Sitter babysitting classes are being offered to middle schoolers in grades six through eight, this summer, by nurses with Baptist Health Paducah.

The four-hour classes are led by registered nurses and will help kids be prepared if situations arise when they are babysitting, watching over siblings, or even home alone.

Leslie Knight, Baptist Health Paducah Mother-Baby and Pediatrics Clinical Educator said, "Safe Sitter is a nationally recognized program that provides children with various skills such as changing diapers, CPR, choking rescue for infants and children, and what to do in weather emergencies. It is a great program and we are excited to offer such an amazing opportunity for middle school students in our community this summer."

The students are also taught some business and life skills like how to deal with adult employers and discuss babysitting fees. The classes feature role-playing and games.

Classes are $30 and are offered from 8 a.m. to Noon on June 27, July 10, and July 14. Pre-registration is required. To register call 270.575.8444 or email Leslie.Knight@BHSI.com.
