The Graves County Pioneer Award committee is now accepting nominations.

Gayle Robbins, Chairman of the committee, said the award is all about helping others.

"This award is to recognize people who graciously give so much of themselves, not only in their community, but throughout Graves County. The Pioneer Award is dedicated to showing appreciation to these generous and caring people."

Nominees may have helped with the growth of Graves County and its communities through business, industry, and education. They may, also, have inspired others with their vision, or how to be good stewards of Graves County. Nominees may have shared their time, talents, and gifts to their fellow citizens.

To nominate an individual who meets these criteria, request an application from Diane Smithson, in Mayfield, at (270)623-6181. Return the application, or write down the information about your nominee on a standard sheet of paper and mail it to Smithson at :

818 Rule Shack Road
Mayfield, KY 42066

All nominations must be in by June 25th.

The winner will be recognized during the Fancy Farm Picnic on August 6th.
