It’s no secret that Murray loves West Kentucky Star. The Teacher of the Month Award has gone to more Murray Elementary teachers than any other school in the area. Principal Denise Whitaker takes great pride in supporting and celebrating the school’s teachers. Usually inviting the teacher’s family members to surprise the winner. Last week’s award presentation was no different.
Kennedy Williams, 1st Grade Teacher at Murray Elementary is the West Kentucky Star October Teacher of the Month. Her parents and husband were all there to surprise her as she was presented a certificate, prize check and the new yard sign. In just her second year at the school – fourth year of teaching – Mrs. Williams acknowledges her wonderful students. “They are very loving. They’re good friends, they love to help others and I’m thankful I was given the group this year,” said Williams.
West Kentucky Star Teacher of the Month, sponsored by Scott Walker Construction, is awarded each month of the school year. As the October winner, Mrs. Williams will join the future 2024-2025 awardees for West Kentucky Star Teacher of the Year 2024 – 2025. This year, each teacher’s school receives a yard sign to show that a “Teacher of the Month Works Here.” It’s a great addition to the school entrances and a way schools can show off their winning teacher! The cash prize also increased this year too. Thanks to our sponsor, all monthly winners receive $75!
