The days are drawing shorter, and so is the time for this year's Paducky Derby at Noble Park. The 11th annual event will take place on Saturday, October 25 at 3 p.m.

Once again, the Paducky Derby benefits the work of The Merryman House Domestic Crisis Center, a nonprofit organization that offers outreach services to victims of domestic abuse.

This year's goal is to have 15,000 ducks adopted by the time they're all poured into Montgomery Lake for the race for prizes, when three ducks will be drawn out and cash prizes of $2500, $1000 and $500 are awarded.

As of Thursday, more than 9200 ducks have been claimed.

Adoption is underway online, where you can adopt a single duck for five dollars, a "quack pack" of 6 for $25, or a flock of 12 ducks for $50. You can also arrange to form a team at your work, school, or church with your own adoption goals.
