The Kentucky State Fair officially kicked off its 11-day run Thursday, and will continue through August 24.

Along with the enormous midway rides, the fair has long featured livestock barns, world-class exhibitors at the World’s Championship Horse Show, and blue-ribbon agriculture exhibits topped off with a fistful of fried food.

As the largest indoor fair in the country, fairgoers can beat the heat by visiting dozens of indoor exhibits or step outside to the entertainment tents with cooling stations.

The fair has implemented a policy about minor children requiring escorts. Effective Monday-Thursday after 6 p.m. and Friday-Sunday all day, fairgoers under 18 years old entering the fair must be accompanied by a chaperone 21 years of age or older. Proof of age is required. IDs will be verified at the gate.

Each adult can only chaperone 6 minors at a time.

General admission tickets are $12 online, and those paying at the gate will pay an additional $10 for parking.
