Baptist Health Paducah will host its two-day March blood drive, partnering with the Kentucky Blood Center.
The event runs Wednesday, March 15, from 3-5:30 p.m., and Thursday, March 16, from 7 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Carson-Myre Heart Center.
All donors will get a KBC T-shirt, while supplies last.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently lifted the variant Creutzfeld-Jakob disease indefinite deferral guidance for blood donors who spent time in the United Kingdom, France and Ireland from 1980-2001, as well as those who received a blood transfusion in those countries since 1980.
So, many people previously unable to donate blood now can.
To give blood, the donor must be at least 16 years-old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in good health and feeling well.
Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins welcome. To schedule a donation time for March 15 or 16, visit the Kentucky Donor Portal at kybloodcenter.org.
