Kentucky football coach Will Stein is looking for a new general manager after Pat Biondo stepped down on Tuesday.
Biondo joined Stein’s staff last spring after four years as director of football recruiting strategy at Oregon. He also served as senior assistant director of recruiting and operations at Texas A&M before joining Dan Laning’s staff at Oregon.
“After much thought, I have made the decision to leave UK,” Biondo said in a statement. “This is a personal move, and I hope everyone will respect the private nature of such a tough decision. It has been a privilege to work for a great university, a wonderful football program and on behalf of such passionate fans. I especially want to thank coach Stein for the opportunity to work with and learn from him.”
In a release, the university said it respects Biondo’s decision and “the personal considerations behind it.”
“We are grateful for his contributions to our program,” the university said.
Pete Nochta is the current assistant general manager and could be elevated to the top spot with less than a week before fall workouts begin.
