On Friday, McCracken County Jailer Tonya Ray filed paperwork at the McCracken County courthouse to seek the office she has held since March.

Ray was appointed Jailer by Judge-Executive Bob Leeper from four candidates who sought the job after Bill Adams announced his retirement.  On her Facebook page, she said, "It’s been a wonderful adventure so far, can’t wait to continue on this journey!"

Ray was raised in Madisonville, and began her law enforcement career with the Hopkins County Jail in 2001, working there through 2013. From that time until September 2016 she was employed as a Pretrial Officer with the State of Kentucky. She has worked in the McCracken County Jail since then, and will serve as jailer until the 2018 election.
