US 68 back open in LBL after tanker truck overturns

The westbound lanes of US 68 in western Trigg County are back open in Land Between the Lakes where a tanker truck overturned on Tuesday evening.

The Trigg County Sheriff's department said the truck was eastbound when it blew a tire, ran through the median and overturned several times. The driver was reportedly flown to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. The full extent of his injuries was unknown.

The road was blocked for several hours between the Cumberland River/Lake Barkley Bridge at Canton and Woodlands Trace.

The truck, originally thought to be hauling alcohol, was loaded with residue from corn mash used to make alcohol.  The truck cab had to be removed and the tanker's contents had to be offloaded before the truck could be moved off of the roadway.
