A federal agency has approved plans for a natural gas pipeline across Todd County, Kentucky, that would mostly serve Clarksville,
Tennessee.

The (Clarksville) Leaf-Chronicle reports that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission recently issued a certificate for the Clarksville Natural Gas Interconnect Pipeline Project. The certificate includes conditions and stipulations that would allow others access to the pipeline.

Kentucky landowners had raised environmental concerns about the project and said they wouldn't reap any benefit from the original proposal, which would not have allowed others to access the pipeline since it is being built as an emergency backup.

Clarksville is planning to build the 20-mile underground pipeline to tie into the Texas Gas Transmission pipeline on the north side of Todd County.
