Staff from the National Weather Service in Paducah spent Monday cataloging storm damage across their forecast area in southern Illinois and southern Indiana.
They determined that Sunday's storms spawned 13 tornadoes that touched down between 3:30 pm til midnightr from Mt. Vernon to Owensboro.
The strongest was an EF-3 tornado near Mt. Vernon with peak winds of 140 miles per hour. It traveled 14 miles and destroyed three homes. There were two fatalities and several injured.
An EF-2 intensity tornado was on the ground north of Evansville for more than 11 miles.
Meteorologists are still compiling the rest of the data, which will be available on their NWS web page .
