Eleven people lost their lives in Kentucky during the major winter storm over the weekend.
Ten Kentucky residents, 9 men and 1 female, ranged in age from 48 to 78. They included a 55-year-old man from Livingston County and a 70-year-old man from Graves County.
Governor Beshear said that families of the victims will receive support from the Team Kentucky Emergency Relief Fund to help pay for funeral costs.
On Tuesday, the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet also reported that an inmate died Tuesday morning after falling and sustaining a head injury while removing snow and ice debris at Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex.
Kentucky State Police said they received 9,700 calls to posts statewide during the storm. They responded to 650 drivers needing assistance, and 450 requests for wellness checks.
As of Wednesday night, about 7400 customers were still without electricity in south central Kentucky.
