A weekend rollover accident sent a Ballard County woman to an out of state hospital.

The Marshall County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened Saturday on I-69, around mile marker 40. Deputies say 62-year-old Walter B. Slayden of Sedalia, was traveling south and noticed a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Brandi M. Dowdy, of Wickliffe, in the emergency lane.

Slayden moved over to the passing lane to give Dowdy room. As Slayden approached, Dowdy pulled onto the parkway, crossing both lanes causing Slayden to strike Dowdy.

Dowdy's vehicle then went into the median and overturned several times. When deputies arrived, Dowdy was trapped inside her vehicle and had to be removed by mechanical means.

Dowdy was transported by Air Evac to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN for treatment of her injuries.
