A four-vehicle collision on westbound I-24 in McCracken County Wednesday afternoon sent one person to the hospital.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, a vehicle driven by Robert Warford of Kevil was sitting stationary just west of Exit 11 due to congested traffic from an unrelated collision.

At the same time, a tractor-trailer driven by Jean Kengwoung-Keumo of North Carolina rear-ended Warford's vehicle.

Warford's vehicle became lodged under another tractor-trailer driven by Theodore Simonson of North Carolina. The collision caused Warford to become entrapped in his vehicle.

After colliding with Warford's vehicle, Kengwoung-Keumo's semi rear-ended another vehicle driven by David Norris of Florida.

Warford was extracted from his vehicle by mechanical means and taken to Mercy Health Lourdes hospital for treatment. He was later flown to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.

The interstate was shut down at exit 11 for two and a half hours due to the collision.
