Western Kentucky Declared to Be in Drought

The University of Kentucky Agriculture Weather Center is rating western Kentucky as being in a "severe" drought. The rating comes as the result of sparse rainfall in the last three weeks and soaring temperatures.

The Gleaner reports that Henderson, Paducah and Princeton are among the driest cities in the state. And there's no relief in sight, according to the National
Weather Service.
    
Daily high temperatures of 90 degrees or higher are expected beginning Thursday and lasting through the Memorial Day weekend. The five-day forecast for the area doesn't call for rain.
