Two Mayfield men were arrested Wednesday following a drug investigation by Graves County Sheriff's detectives and the McCracken County Sheriff's Department Drug Enforcement Unit.

According to the Graves County Sheriff's Office, a search warrant was executed at a home on North 11th Street in Mayfield, following tips that illegal drug activity was suspected.

Detectives report they located 62-year-old David McCampbell in a bedroom of the home, and allegedly found packages containing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Another man, 32-year-old Dustin Blake, tried to flee the home. A brief scuffle occurred, causing injury to two deputies, as well as Blake.

During the scuffle, deputies saw McCampbell allegedly throw a semi-automatic weapon out the front door.

Deputies say that both men have extensive criminal histories. Both were arrested and charged on numerous drug offenses. McCampbell was also charged with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

Blake and McCampbell were taken to the Graves County Jail. Blake was first taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the altercation with deputies.
