A four-vehicle collision Saturday in Trigg County claimed one person's life and injured two others.

According to Kentucky State Police, the crash happened around 12:05 pm on the Lake Barkley Bridge at the east entrance to the Land Between The Lakes. Police said a motorcycle operated by 35-year-old Johnathan King, of Regan, TN, was traveling east on US68/KY80. A car driven by 53-year-old Jeffery Twaddle, of Franklin, TN, was traveling west on US68/KY80.

For an unknown reason, police said King crossed the center line and traveled into the path of Twaddle's car. King and his passenger, 34-year-old Mary King, of Regan, TN, were both thrown from the motorcycle after the collision.

A motorcycle operated by 69-year-old Robert Mathney, of Scottsville, KY was following King. In an attempt to avoid the collision Mathney laid his bike on its side and slid several feet before coming to a stop. Another motorcycle, operated by Steven Poe, of Eads, TN, was traveling behind Mathney. He was able to come to a stop and was not injured in the crash, but his bike suffered damage from the debris already in the roadway.

Johnathan and Mary King, and Mathney were transported by ambulance to Trigg County Hospital and then air-lifted to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, TN for treatment of their injuries.  Johnathan King was later pronounced dead by the Davidson County Coroner. Twaddle was not injured in the collision.
