Friday night will feature a clash of two titans when Paducah Tilghman travels to Mayfield in one of the oldest rivalries in the state.
Friday's game will mark the 99th meeting between the two teams.
So far both schools have lived up to expectations in the early season. Each team is currently ranked in the AP top ten in their class. Mayfield sits atop the Class A rankings, while Tilghman is number three in the Class 3A poll.
Paducah Tilghman will enter the game at 2-0 on the year. The Blue Tornado have yet to truly be tested outscoring their opponents 79-33 on the season. Tilghman has already picked up wins over Lone Oak and West Creek, TN.
Mayfield lost it's opener to Class 5A Warren Central 42-28, Warren Central is ranked third in the Class 5A rankings. The Cardinals bounced back last week beating Madisonville-North Hopkins 63-21.
The Cardinals have won seven of the last ten meetings with Tilghman which includes six straight. The last time Tilghman picked up a win in the series was in 2005. In 2006 Mayfield beat the Blue Tornado 14-7 in overtime to snap Tilghman's three game-win streak over the Cardinals.
Mayfield will look to keep their current streak alive with what has been a balanced offensive attack early in the season. As a team the Cardinals have rushed for 407-yards on 53 rush attempts and thrown for 553 on 46 pass attempts and 26 completions.
Quarterback Jake Guhy has accounted for all of Mayfield's passing totals. Guhy has also thrown for four touchdowns and one interception.
Jonathon Jackson, Mayfield's top rusher, has led the ground attack rushing for 184-yards and three touchdowns.
Defensively the Cardinals have allowed 381-yards on the ground and just 299 through the air.
Kick-off is set for 7:30 Friday night at War Memorial Stadium in Mayfield.
