A second person has tested positive for COVID-19 in Calloway County.
The Calloway County Health Department said Wednesday morning that they were recently notified after a county resident tested positive for the virus. Additional details about the person were not made available due to medical privacy laws.
"We believe the risk to the public is low, and as this situation evolves, we will continue to communicate with the CDC, DPH, and the people of Calloway County." said Kim Paschall, Director of Nursing for the Calloway County Health Department.
Paschall offered the following tips to help avoid sickness:
-Wash hands often with soap and water.
-Avoid contact with people who are sick.
-Stay at home if you are sick.
-Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, then throw it away.
-Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces and objects.
Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, and shortness of breath in severe cases. Anyone with questions or concerns is advised to go to kycovid19.ky.gov, or to call the state hotline at 800-722-5725. If you think you may have been exposed to the virus, or are experiencing symptoms, contact your medical provider, or call the health department at 270-753-3381.
