Local residents have once again been targeted by a phone scam where the caller claims to be from a law enforcement agency.
The Mayfield Police Department says they got word Tuesday about someone impersonating law enforcement calling local residents and telling them there was a charge or criminal proceeding against them. The scammers said they would "take care of the issue" if the victims bought different cards, such as special Google Play, and brought them to a designated location to turn them over.
Investigators called the number given, and a fake answering service picked up claiming to be the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.
Police said residents should be aware of this scam, and contact local law enforcement if they get a call like this.
