The Graves County Sheriff's Office says that human remains found north of Sedalia this week may be those of a woman missing since 2017.

On Thursday, deputies, detectives, and the Graves County Coroners Office responded to the scene near Love Lane and confirmed the discovery of the skeletal remains.

According to detectives, the remains appear to be two to three years old, and are those of an adult. The Kentucky Medical Examiners Office will perform an autopsy in an attempt to determine the identity and cause of death.

Although the body is still unidentified, Sheriff Jon Hayden said that the family of 53-year-old Lynette McCollum was updated on the discovery.

In June of 2017, a missing person report was filed for McCollum, who resided on Love Lane. An investigation into her disappearance was performed, but she was never found.
