The Paducah Area Community Reuse Organization has elected a new executive director.

At their Wednesday meeting, the PACRO board voted on and unanimously approved Greg Wiles as their new executive director, after previous executive director, Scott Darnell, turned in his resignation.

Wiles has worked with Ashland Chemicals for 36 years and is preparing to retire, and his PACRO contract will officially begin on February 1.

Wiles spoke with West Kentucky Star about some of his goals as the new executive director. He said, "I hope to generate more revenue for the counties, set some goals for the board, and hopefully I can meet the goals the board already has set; Keep the momentum going."

PACRO chairman and Marshall County Judge-Executive Kevin Neal said that after interviews, Wiles came out on top.

"His years of experience, and actually tearing down a chemical plant. You know, that's that company putting a lot of trust in an individual to do that. That's what we need." Neal continued, "It's a great position, it fits him and his experience and we're excited."

Neal says the position will be great for someone like Wiles, who is retiring and can dedicate more time.

PACRO serves the area by mitigating the impact of the Gaseous Diffusion Plant's closure by liquidating assets, promoting the site, advocating for federal funding for clean-up work, and creating area jobs. You can find more information at the link below.
