A former Graves County High School teacher charged with sexual abuse has avoided jail time by pleading guilty in a pretrial diversion.

Amy Noles, a foreign language teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenage male student, received a 12-month sentence, conditionally discharged for two years.

Noles was arrested in November of last year after rumors of the alleged relationship surfaced. She was charged with sexual abuse, tampering with evidence and using an electronic device to procure sexual activity from a minor. According to her arrest report, the teenage student said he had kissed Noles on three occasions and touched her sexually once.

Pursuant to the diversion agreement, the sexual abuse charge was dismissed and the tampering charge was diverted for five years. The charge of using an electronic device to procure sexual activity from a minor was amended to unlawful transaction with a minor.

Noles was ordered to have no further contact with the victim or his family. The Education Professional Standards Board will review Noles’ case and determine whether she will lose her teaching license.
