Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville has released the names of the suspect and officers and who were involved in a shooting incident on Tuesday.

Investigation shows that Elkton Police Chief Robert Toombs and Todd County Sheriff's Deputy David Hutcheson pulled over a vehicle that had been stopped earlier in the day by an Elkton officer. The driver, 75-year-old Roy Tucker of Elkton, reportedly brandished a firearm and gunfire was exchanged.

Tucker was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle. Toombs and Hutcheson were not injured.

Kentucky State Police Post 2 in Madisonville is investigating a shooting involving an Elkton Police Officer, and a Todd County Sheriff’s Deputy.

The incident occurred Tuesday on East Main Street in Elkton. 
 
A preliminary investigation showed that officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that an Elkton officer had encountered earlier in the day. 

During the traffic stop, the driver brandished a firearm and gunfire was exchanged. The driver was pronounced dead at scene by an official with the Todd County Coroner’s Office. 

The driver was reportedly the sole occupant of the vehicle, and no officers were injured.
