A man struck by a car in Mayfield on Monday was injured, and then arrested.

The Mayfield Police Department says 60-year-old Ricky Tyler, of Mayfield, was trying to make a left hand turn from Willow Street onto South 10th Street, when he struck a pedestrian, 53-year-old Virgil Patrick Rodriguez, of Mayfield.

Witnesses told police that Rodriquez began to cross the road at the same time Tyler was making his turn. Officers said the weather, low light, and Rodriguez's dark clothing were contributing factors in Tyler not being able to see Rodriguez crossing the street.

Rodriguez was transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Upon his release, Rodriguez was placed under arrest for an active warrant for failing to appear. He was lodged in the Graves County Jail.
