The Mayfield Police Department says officers responded to the emergency room at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in reference to an assault that had taken place around 1:00 am. A woman told police that she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend.
Police said 41-year-old Kenneth Benjamin came into the woman's home, saying he had to use the bathroom, then began assaulting her. The woman sustained severe injuries as a result of the assault.
Benjamin was arrested and lodged in the Graves County Jail. He's charged with 2nd degree burglary and 4th degree assault.
