A Mayfield man was jailed Tuesday night on drug and alcohol charges.

The Mayfield Police Department says officers were dispatched to the area of 5th and Broadway in reference to a man stumbling in the roadway. When officers arrived they found 31-year-old Edward Williams in the middle of Broadway.

Officers said Williams was unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech, so he was arrested for being under the influence. During a search of Williams and a bag he was carrying, officers allegedly found two glass pipes and a set of digital scales. Police said the glass pipe field tested positive for amphetamines.

Williams was taken to the Graves County Jail on charges of alcohol intoxication in a public place, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
