A Mayfield man faces a burglary charge after police responded to a domestic disturbance call Wednesday.

According to the Mayfield Police Department, officers responded to a home on Taylor Drive in reference to a physical domestic dispute. A woman who lives at the home told police that she was assaulted by 27-year-old Terrence Shelton.

She told police that Shelton entered her home, and they got into an argument. Officers said Shelton left the home, but later returned, and entered the home by using a key that he had stolen when he was at the victim’s home the first time.

Police said that's when the assault allegedly occurred. Shelton was later found at his home with some items that he had taken from the woman’s home. Shelton was arrested, and taken to the Graves County Jail on a charge of 2nd degree burglary.
