Man Suffers Medical Episode, Dies While Driving

A Calloway County man died Wednesday after he reportedly suffered a medical episode while driving.

The Murray Ledger and Times reports that Calloway County Sheriff Sam Steger told them 69-year-old Thomas H. Smith was driving shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Backusburg Road when he had a medical issue of some kind. His vehicle then veered off the roadway and crashed near Kirksey.

Steger said evidence shows that Smith's medical episode is likely what led to his death.
