A Mayfield man was sentenced Monday to two years in prison for having an inappropriate relationship with a teenager, but his sentence has been probated.

Instead, Graves County Commonwealth's Attorney Richie Kemp said David Shane Darnell was ordered to serve 30 days for the charges of tampering with physical evidence and distribution of obscene material to a minor.

As part of his plea agreement, Darnell was ordered to undergo a comprehensive psychosexual evaluation, and then complete a treatment program.

Darnell was arrested in November 2018 after Kentucky State Police received a complaint from a resource officer at Graves County High School about a possible inappropriate relationship between Darnell and a 16-year-old student. Darnell was employed as a school custodian at the time of his arrest.
