A Christian County man was arrested Wednesday, just a few hours after he allegedly robbed U.S. Bank in Hopkinsville.

Hopkinsville police responded to the robbery on Lafayette Road about 10:30am, and bank employees told them a black male in his 30’s entered the bank and demanded money and acted as if he had a gun. The robber then left the bank on foot, with an undisclosed amount of cash. Employees told police they never actually saw the robber with a gun.

Police say after the man left the bank, the suspect entered a home on Beaumont Drive and took some clothing so he could change his appearance. Police found and arrested the suspect, 36-year-old Azikiwe Maduka, a short time later on Coxmill Road.

He was positively identified by bank employees and the resident on Beaumont Drive as the person who committed the crimes.

Maduka is charged with 1st Degree Robbery and 2nd degree burglary. He is in the Christian County Jail. Hopkinsville police were assisted by the Christian County Sheriff’s Department.
