On Thursday, 32-year-old Devin Roberts contacted the Carlisle County Sheriff's Office and requested that a deputy come to his home. A deputy arrived at the home and was reportedly told by Roberts that he had taken a large water proof case that was reportedly beside a dumpster owned by the City of Bardwell.
Roberts says he took the case into his home and opened it, and reportedly became nervous because all of the items inside of the case were marked as property of the City of Bardwell.
Deputies say that a follow-up investigation revealed that the case had been stored in a city building on the property. The case and its contents were identified by a City of Bardwell representative. The case contained various tools, emergency lights, hydraulic pumps, and other items that were valued at over $5,000.00.
Roberts was lodged in the Ballard County Jail.
He is being charged with receiving stolen property under $10,000.00.
