Hickory Woman Killed in Fiery Graves County Crash

A Hickory woman was killed Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash.

Kentucky State Police Post 1 says troopers responded Wednesday afternoon to the crash in Hickory.

The initial investigation shows 21-year-old Elizabeth Shelby was driving east on KY 849 West when her vehicle dropped off the roadway after crossing the intersection of Meridian Road. Shelby then over-corrected and ran off the right shoulder of the roadway. Shelby's vehicle then struck a tree on the driver's side and caught fire.

Shelby was pronounced dead at the scene by the Graves County Coroner. Eastbound traffic was shut down on KY 849 West for about two and a half hours.

Troopers say the crash is still under investigation.
