Graves County residents without high speed internet are one step closer to getting it.

Officials say having a county where high speed internet is available everywhere will help it grow and reach its potential. On Monday, the Graves County Fiscal Court voted to advertise for bids for an agent to act on the county's behalf as it gathers information.

Most of Graves County already has high speed internet available. The latest initiative is only applicable to the areas that are not covered. Those areas include a ring around Mayfield approximately 3 to 5 miles outside the city limits, the Symsonia area and the Water Valley community.

County officials say they will look at the information provided by the third party agent to make responsible and informed decisions to determine the feasibility of the initiative.
