A Graves County man was shot and killed during a family dispute early Saturday. According to the Graves County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a shots fired call at 1:20am at a home at 1330 Hopewell Road, approximately two miles east of Mayfield.

Upon arrival, 49-year-old Marty Rudolph of Hickory was found outside the home in the driveway. Deputies said Rudolph had been shot twice in the upper torso. Deputies performed CPR on Rudolph until EMS units arrived. Rudolph was transported to Jackson Purchase Medical Center, where he died a short time later.

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon said Rudolph had allegedly come to the home threatening to do bodily harm to another man. That man, whom Redmon would not name, allegedly shot and killed Rudolph.

Redmon said no charges have been filed at this time. He said the initial investigation shows that the shooting was in self defense. Redmon said the case will be turned over to the Graves County grand jury. The investigation is continuing by the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.
