A Graves County man is behind bars, accused of raping and sodomizing a child.

Graves County Sheriff Dewayne Redmon says a deputy received a complaint on Friday of a juvenile being sexually abused by a caregiver. The deputy, assisted by a worker from the Department of Community Based Services, interviewed the juvenile.

According to police, the juvenile told of two separate incidents that had taken place in the past week. The man accused of committing the acts, David Edgin, was interviewed but denied any wrongdoing.

On Tuesday, the juvenile was taken to the Purchase Area Sexual Assault Center in Paducah and a forensic interview was conducted. After the interview, a Graves County sheriff's deputy came back to Graves County and arrested Edgin.

Edgin was charged with one count of 1st degree rape, one count of 1st degree sodomy, and one count of 1st degree sexual abuse. He was lodged in the Graves County Jail.
