Authorities in Graves County have made two arrests in connection with three burglaries that occurred earlier this month.

On Friday, Graves County sheriff's deputies stopped a vehicle on Broadway in Mayfield that fit the description of a vehicle that police said had been used in several residential burglaries in the south end of the county. A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of numerous pieces of jewelry that had been reported stolen in two burglaries on State Route 381 on Sept. 9. A search warrant was issued for a home at 704 Washington Street in Mayfield where deputies found numerous pieces of jewelry, DVDs, clothes and other suspected stolen items.

Deputies arrested 25-year-old Cory D. Jones and 27-year-old Kayla Cagle. According to deputies, Jones and Cagle both have addresses in Mississippi as well as in Graves County. Both were charged with receiving stolen property, and three counts of burglary second degree. Cagle was also charged with tampering with physical evidence for trying to hide jewelry in her personal belongings.

The burglary charges stem from two homes on KY 381 and also one on KY 339 South. Deputies said nothing was taken from the home on KY 339 South due to the home owner interrupting the burglary.

More charges are expected to filed this week after more of the recovered items are viewed by recent burglary victims. Deputies said Jones has also pawned several items in the Memphis, TN area. The sheriff’s office has been in contact with the Memphis Police Department and will be working with them this week to try to recover more stolen items.
