Chris Freeland has announced his intent to run for the Kentucky House of Representatives 6th district seat in next year's election.

The seat, which encompasses Marshall, Lyon and a portion of McCracken counties, is currently held by Will Coursey (D-Benton).

Freeland, a Republican from Benton, served four terms on the Benton City Council. He also spent 17 years as a member of the Benton Lions Club and six years on the Marshall County Chamber Board of Directors. He’s been employed with Freeland Broadcasting for 25 years.

Freeland says he wants to be a bipartisan voice for the people of the 6th District. He said Frankfort must look to western Kentucky, specifically the 6th District, when it comes to state funded projects, funding for infrastructure and economic development.
