Forum Held About Insurance For Hemp Farmers

On Friday, hemp farmers and industry experts met during an open forum about hemp insurance at CFSB Bank in Mayfield.

Martin Barbre, administrator for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Risk Management Agency led a discussion on insurance related to recent hemp crops.

During the event it was announced that the USDARMA, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, and AgriLogic Consulting LLC, are collaborating to develop a stand-alone hemp insurance product that will protect hemp farmers from natural disasters.

The Director of the KDA Industrial Hemp Program, Doris Hamilton, and AgriLogic's Senior Policy Analyst Kim Harris held a question-and-answers session with hemp farmers to provide a clearer understanding of the needs and concerns of the hemp farming community.
