On Friday morning, nearly a half dozen small earthquakes took place along the New Madrid Fault Line just across the Mississippi River from Fulton County, Kentucky.
The USGS says the tremors started at around 7:40 Friday morning, and the final quake of the series occurred at 8:39. The only one deemed detectable by humans was a 2.7 magnitude quake at 7:40 am.
All of the tremors were centered just across the Mississippi River from Fulton County near New Madrid, Missouri:
7:40 am: 2.7 magnitude; 1.1 mi ESE of Lilbourn
7:42 am: 1.8 magnitude; .3 mi NW of Howardville
7:43 am: 1.6 magnitude; .4 mi NW of Howardville
7:47 am: 2.1 magnitude; .4 mi NW of Howardville
8:39 am: 1.5 magnitude; .3 mi NNW of Howardville
