Nobody was injured Friday evening when a tractor-trailer caught on fire in Mayfield.
The incident took place about 4:00 pm on US Highway 45 near the I-69 overpass, according to Mayfield Police. When officers arrived, the entire engine bay and part of the cab were engulfed in flames, but the driver had been able to escape without injury.
Graves County Fire and Rescue responded and extinguished the fire. All northbound traffic on Highway 45 was blacked until that time, since there was a possibility that the tractor might explode.
Traffic resumed after the tractor and trailer were removed by Burl's Wrecker Service. Mayfield EMS and the Graves County Sheriff's office also helped at the scene.
