The recent drowning at Kentucky Dam Marina has led to the arrest of a Marshall County man on drug charges.

At a joint press conference Wednesday afternoon with the Marshall County Sheriff's Office and the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, officials shared more details on how the recent drowning led to a drug trafficking arrest.

Marshall County Sheriff Eddie McGuire said that while investigating the drowning at the Marina, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife contacted the McCracken and Marshall County Sheriff's Offices for assistance with an investigation after two children at the marina had allegedly overdosed around the same time as the drowning investigation.

After interviewing several individuals related to the case, officers believe the alleged overdoses were caused by fentanyl-laced xanax pills.

Officers searched the home of Stoney Hendrickson on Moors Camp Highway.  During the search, detectives say they seized over 20 xanax pills that are believed to have been laced with fentanyl.  Officers also found marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and over $1,200 in cash.

Hendrickson was arrested and is being charged with one count of aggravated trafficking in a controlled substance more than 10 grams of fentanyl or fentanyl derivatives and the investigation is ongoing.

McGuire concluded with a warning, "To those that are out there in addiction, to those that are out there buying their pills on the streets, your life is in danger.  There is a killer on the streets and it's fentanyl."

McGuire shared a quote from Superintendent Trent Lovett, saying "If you have a 14-16 year old kid, now is the time to get in their business.  Search their bedrooms, search their phones. You may make them angry buy there is no excuse for saving their life."

Also at the press conference, McCracken County Sheriff Matt Carter announced the largest methamphetamine bust in McCracken County history. See more on that story at the link below.
