In a continuing effort to diversify the departments of city government, Mayfield Mayor Teresa Cantrell has hired the first female police officer since 2004.

Officer Melody Arnold will begin her duties with the Mayfield Police Department this week, having previously worked as a certified Officer for the Calloway County Sheriff’s Department. Prior to her graduation from the Police Academy in Richmond, KY, Officer Arnold worked at the Graves County Sheriff’s Department as a Court Security Officer.

Originally from Evansville, IN, Melody relocated to the Mayfield area after graduation from Bosse High School in Evansville.

“We are so happy to have Melody as a member of our Mayfield Police Department,” Cantrell said.  “Having a female in the department is such an asset for our citizens and another step toward becoming the diverse department that we need to be for Mayfield.”
