A Calvert City Boy Scout recently finished his Eagle Scout project.

Friends of Land Between the Lakes says Jameson Wells, a member of Scout Troop 2422 in Calvert City, completed his Eagle Scout project by building benches for the 1850s Homeplace in Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area.

Jameson and his troop worked for more than 30 hours to build the benches.

"This extra seating will help reduce groups clustering together and provide improved seating for social distancing," said Anita Spaulding, volunteer coordinator with the Friends of Land Between the Lakes.

The project began in the spring when Troop 2422 participated in a cleanup. The project has taken four months to complete due to pandemic guidelines, but the benches are now finished using specific designs from the mid 19th century.

The Friends of LBL thanked Jameson and Troop 2422 for their hard work building the benches and their sponsors, Mitchell Steele Construction, Calvert City Lumber and Lowes for providing the materials for the project.
