Calloway County authorities are investigating after a man was shot Tuesday night.

The Calloway County Sheriff's Office says the 911 communications center received a call around 8:20 p.m. about a man who had been shot following an altercation in the New Concord area. Deputies arrived and found 33-year-old Charles Milam, of New Concord, with a shotgun wound to the upper right leg.

Deputies rendered aid to Milam until Murray-Calloway County EMS arrived. He was taken to Murray-Calloway County Hospital, and then air-lifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where he's listed in critical condition.

The investigation is continuing and deputies say there is no other information they can release at this time.
