Wednesday's storm front dumped more than two inches of rain on Calloway County in about 35 minutes, and caused widespread flash flooding that is still being felt in several areas.

The National Weather Service began receiving reports by 4 p.m. when several county roads east of Murray were quickly put under water.

In the city itself, many streets had 6 inches to a foot of water on them, and creeks flowing near downtown went out of their banks.

At 5 p.m., there was a reported water rescue on State Line Road near Hazel, where a vehicle stalled after driving into high water.

Two homes on Tobacco Road had to be evacuated after flood waters 4 to 8 inches deep came into the homes.

Water also rose over a portion of Highway 121 near New Concord, and several county roads in that area were still covered into the night.
