The U.S. Geological Service has confirmed that a 2.6 magnitude earthquake occurred in western Kentucky at 6:35 pm Sunday.
Preliminary data shows the epicenter of the quake was 9 kilometers east-northeast of LaCenter.
Another unexplained boom was felt and heard Sunday afternoon just before 2:00 pm, and social media lit up with comments on both events.
