Traffic accident claims life of Tennessee man in Fulton

Kentucky State Police at Mayfield are investigating an early Wednesday morning collision which claimed the life of a Tennessee man in Fulton County.

KSP was requested around 6:20 am by the Fulton County Sheriff's Office to investigate a vehicle verses pedestrian collision that occurred in the 4000 block of E State Line Road.

The preliminary investigation indicates 44-year-old Jordan B. Owens of Greenfield, TN had been operating a Mack garbage truck, which broke down on E State Line Road and stalled over the center line of the roadway. Owens was out of the vehicle. 

A vehicle operated by 25-year-old Jose Gomez Carrillo of Mayfield and passenger, 19-year-old Oseas Hernandez Gomez, also of Mayfield was traveling westbound on E State Line Road. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle operated by Carrillo struck Owens. 

Owens was transported to an out of state hospital where he was pronounced deceased. 

The investigation is ongoing.
